Dear visitors of the "Lidice for the 21st Century" contest web sites,

the contest for pupils and students from the whole world "Lidice for the 21st Century" is organized already for the seventh time by the Lidice Memorial, the Military Historical Institute Prague and the Faculty of Philosophy at Charles University. The contest has two rounds and consists of a knowledge test and a literary work and has many advantages:

  1. it takes place on the internet
  2. you can compete in one of the four contest languages and the literary work can be written also in Slovakian
  3. the contest is divided in two age categories: from 10 to 14 years and from 15 to 19 years
  4. in the first contest round the participants have 4 weeks to complete the knowledge test and write the literary
  5. the literary work can be completed in any genre
  6. to find out the information you can use various resources (internet, libraries, archives.. )
  7. 21 contestants from each age category will progress to the second (final) round
  8. all 42 finalists will receive prices and an invitation for ceremonial awarding
  9. if you are not successful in the contest you still have a chance to receive an award for the literary work
  10. the winner can expect interesting prices
  11. the participants who would register in the contest within their school can also succeed in the contest of " the most active school"
  12. you will get to know significant and interesting events from the period of the World War II

To attend the contest you only need to complete an application form and read the contest description, which will tell you how to proceed through the contest.
