Lidice for 21.century
The knowledge contest "Lidice for the 21st Century" is hosted by the Lidice Memorial, a semi-budgetary organization of the Ministry of Culture, The Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes and the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. It is dedicated to children and youth from the whole world that are 10–19 years old.
Its aim is to contribute to keeping the memory of the citizens of the Central Bohemian village of Lidice who were murdered by Nazis in 1942. Furthermore it should deepen the knowledge of the youngest generation about historical events connected to World War II, the Nazi regime and other totalitarian regimes of the 20th century as well as the transformation of the post-war legacy of Lidice up to the early 21st century.
Today the 1st round of the contest will be closed.
On Friday 21 Feb 2020 at 12 midnight, the 1st round of the 15th edition of the competition will be closed. The final number of registered entrants is 2 191. The total number of the registered schools for this edition is 146 registered schools!
The results of the first round with the names of 42 finalists will be available on this webpage from 27 March 2020 on.The same day will see the results published of the contest “For the most active school".
The winning school will get free or partially reimbursed transport to the winners announcement ceremony on 4 June 2020. The pupils of the winning school will also receive complimentary tickets to the Lidice Memorial for an educational programme and a tour of the museum and the memorial site.
The 2nd to 5th schools will receive complimentary tickets to the Lidice Memorial for an educational programme and a tour of the museum and the memorial site as well as publications donated by the Lidice Memorial and the partners of the contest.
The 6th to 10th schools will receive publications donated by the Lidice Memorial and the partners of the contest.
